چکیده

PURPOSE The purpose of this investigation was to assess the effects of listening to music during warm-up on short-term supramaximal performances during the 30-s Wingate test in highly trained athletes. METHODS Twelve young male athletes (20.6±1.8 yrs, 177±4.4 cm and 72.3±5.3 kg) underwent two Wingate tests in separate sessions with a recovery period of 48 h in-between, either after a 10 min of warm-up with (MWU) or without (NMWU) music. High tempo music (>120 to 140bpm) was selected for the study. Heart rate (HR) and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) were recorded after the warm-up (for HR = average of warm-up) and immediately after the Wingate test. RESULTS HR, RPE and the fatigue index during the Wingate test are not affected by the incorporation of music during warm-up. However, power output (P(peak) and P(mean)) was significantly higher after MWU than NMWU (P<0.05). The relative increases were 4.1 ± 3.6 and 4.0 ± 3.7 W·kg(-1) for P(peak) and P(mean) respectively. These findings demonstrated the beneficial effect of music during warm-up on short-term supramaximal performances. CONCLUSIONS As it's a legal method and an additional aid, music may be used during warm-up before performing activities requiring powerful lower limbs' muscles contractions during short-term supramaximal exercises.

Cardiac Troponin T Response during High-Intensity Competition and its Correlation with the Corrected QT Interval among the Trained Athletes

Introduction: It is highly crucial to develop novel strategies in order to further enhance the monitoring of sudden cardiac arrest in athletes and establish standard medical care procedures to control monitoring and treatment costs. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of a high-intensity competition on cardiac troponin T (cTnT) and its correlation with the corrected QT interv...

Effects of exercise on spatial memory deficits induced by nucleus basalis magnocellularis lesions

Introduction: Previous studies have shown that exercise enhances cognitive and functional capacities in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, we investigated the effect of long-term (60 days) and short- term (10 days) exercise on the spatial memory deficits in an animal model of AD. Methods: Fifty male rats were divided into 5 groups 1) intact, 2) sham, 3) sham-Alzheimer 4) ...

Effects of caffeine consumption before resistance exercise on blood levels of testosterone and growth hormones in male athletes

Introduction: Caffeine has the athletic performance-enhancing effects, but its effect on concentrations of anabolic hormones is unclear. Therefore, this research examines the short–term effect of caffeine consumption on anabolic hormones of growth (GH) and testosterone (TS) after performing resistance exercise (RE). Materials and Methods: In this randomized double-blind, and placebo-controlled ...

The Effect of a Session of High and Low-intensity Resistance Exercise, with and without Blood Flow Restriction, on the Serum Levels of Irisin and Glycerol in Trained Men

Background and Aim: Conducting exercises with various methods can have different effects on the body tissue. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of one session of resistance training with high and low intensities, while both restricting and not restricting the blood flow, on the levels of irisin and glycerol serum in trained male subjects. Methods: This quasi-experimental study...

Cerebellum and reelin under chronic treadmill exercise conditions in male rats

Reelin is an extracellular matrix neuroprotein which plays important roles during development and maturation of cerebellum. In the postnatal cerebellum, Reelin is synthesized by cerebellar granule cells and secreted to extracellular matrix. This secreted protein modulates adult synaptic function, neurotransmitter release and regulates plasticity. Exercise has beneficial effects on central nervo...
